Why Are We Here?

Velocity Student Ministry is for students from sixth through twelfth grade. The purpose of Velocity is to create a relevant environment for students to attend and to bring their friends. From music to videos to comedy to games, Velocity is new every week but always offers a fun, interactive, safe place for students to get connected.

Our goals are to create a comfortable place for students to connect with each other, to lead students to express their relationship with God through worship, to communicate God’s truth to students in a relevant way, to encourage spiritual growth in students through healthy friendships, and to develop a team of mentors to help students grow. These goals are centered on three things we want every student to personally experience: wonder, discovery and passion. Here are the ways we define these three experiences:
  • Wonder: I am created to pursue an authentic relationship with my Creator.
  • Discovery: I belong to Jesus Christ and define who I am by what He says.
  • Passion: I exist every day to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world.
These key experiences are a part of every series we teach at Velocity. They ultimately affect everything we do. They pull at our hearts, drive our behavior and capture our imagination. They are the levers our culture pulls to move us emotionally in order to appeal to our souls. But if we teach our students how to understand these experiences in the light of who they are in Christ, they will be unstoppable for God.

Age Group: 6th-12th grade
Velocity meets every Wednesday night. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a snack bar and music. Programming starts at 7 p.m. with music videos, interactive games, and more. Wednesday nights are focused on worship with our live band, in-depth teaching through creative series, and accountability in small groups. Small groups are the key ingredient for practically applying the truths taught throughout the night. Students are grouped by grade and gender.

Student Impact
Student Impact gives student the opportunity to model what it means to be “others-focused” by serving in the other environments within the church. We encourage our students to get involved on Sunday mornings by volunteering in our different ministry environments.

Annual/Special Events
Our annual events usually include a beach trip, summer camp, concerts and several other special events.
